Celebrating Diwali

Thursday 28 October 2021

Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, is celebrated from 4 -11 November this year.

Diwali marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and celebrates the triumph of light over darkness.

In celebration, Motueka and Richmond libraries are offering Diwali Take & Make Kits.

Motueka Library's Diwali Take & Make kits for adults will contain a complimentary sachet of Chai Turmeric Latte for you to try, a sample of ground garam masala to add a sweet and fragrant flavour to your cooking and a sample of ground turmeric for a warming aromatic flavour for curries, rice dishes and soups. Your kit will also include easy Indian recipes to use with your spices. You will also receive four beautiful rangoli patterns to cut out and decorate your home for a Diwali feel.

Motueka Library will also be providing additional Diwali Take & Make kits for children that will contain some fun activities. Visit Motueka Library between 4 -11 November to collect your Diwali kit.

At Richmond Library, your free Take & Make kit will contain a complimentary sachet of Chai Turmeric Latte, a tealight candle, and instructions and paper for creating a beautiful star shaped candle holder.

We look forward to seeing you and hope you enjoy this inclusive cultural activity.

Keep an eye out for our regularly changing supply of creative Take & Make kits!
