Summer reading programme under way

Joshua Venables concentrates on his reading report to Librarian, Debbie Bowden while his sister Ashley looks on supportively. They are two of the 440 children from around the District who are enrolled in the Summer Reading Programme this holiday and are having fun while they practice their reading skills. The check ins form a critical part of the reading programme, where children have the opportunity to speak about their reading to a librarian. In the process they learn to tell someone else about what they have read, form a relationship with Library staff members and discuss new avenues to explore in their reading.
