Reciprocal Lending with Nelson Public Library

Tasman District Library borrowers now able to join the Nelson Public Library
Nelson and Tasman residents are now able to join each other’s Public Libraries during a 12-month trial. The trial means that
• joining fees are waived
• all items must be returned to the issuing library.
• borrowers must also adhere to the policies of the different libraries regarding renewals, reserve fees, rental charges and the number of items that can be borrowed at any one time (see below)

What residents need to know to borrow from the Nelson and Tasman District Libraries:

Nelson Public Libraries:
Standard loan periods:
CDs and DVDs 2 weeks
All other items 4 weeks

No renewals

Extended loan charges:
30c per day per item kept after the end of the standard loan period (children’s items exempt)

Reserve fee $2 (children’s items exempt)

Rental charge:
CDs and DVDs $2 for 2 weeks

Maximum 35 items on loan

Tasman District Libraries:
Standard loan periods:
All items 3 weeks
6 week loan option available

Maximum of 2 renewals

Overdue charges:
Up to 2 weeks late $1 adults 50c children
2 weeks late $3 adults $1.50 children
4 weeks late $5 adults $2.50 children

Reserve fee $2 (children’s items exempt)

Rental charges:
New Adult books $1 for 3 weeks
Magazines in Adult section 20c for 3 weeks
CDs $1 for 3 weeks

Maximum 15 items on loan
